Did you know this in Hazbin Hotel?One thing that caused a bit of confusion especially in the earlier days of the fandom was the name of the show, so why is it called hazbin hotel and what exactly is a hazbin?
During the first hazbin prequel comic we find out that charlie is taking over lucifer’s old hotel called the happy hotel. It was a high class place for sinners to stay, but after lilith left lucifer he gave up on everything, which is why it’s in the state its in during the pilot.
At the end of the pilot alastor secretly changes its name to the hazbin hotel. This is obviously a pun on the word has been. If you’re a has been, you’re someone who is no longer popular or successful. The sinners at the hotel had the chance to go to heaven, but wasted it and are stuck in hell. To alastor’s dismay charlie’s theory becomes true, with us finding out at the end of season 1 that sinners really can turn their lives around by getting redeemed.
In the early days fans theorised that the word hazbin was alastor’s surname, however looking back this was a pretty silly theory and it ended up being replaced by even sillier one, that alastor’s name is alastor altruist.
