An ageless masterpiece of a minimalist, Arctic drone. This album is recognized by many as Thomas' best work — and this is fully justified. After 28 years, «Permafrost» is only getting better, like a good wine aged for many years. I can say with confidence that this is the best work in this style at all. To be honest, even after many thousands of hours of listening to a variety of artists and their works over the years, I have never heard anything like this album. Although, perhaps, this is just my subjectivism, but it would be simply ignorance to doubt the uniqueness of Thomas Köner. Again, let it be my subjective opinion, but I sincerely believe that this is an unambiguous «must have» and «must listen» for every adept of experimental music.

A cold, bone-chilling sound that stirs the imagination and destroys the framework of reality, leading to transcendence. This is the real soul of the boundless Arctic desert. That's how absolute cold and emptiness sounds.
