During Fats' stay at Mercury, 1 album remains unreleased: "Southland U.S.A.".
Although the front and back cover were printed for a PROMO, as well as matrix-no., it never saw the attention it deserved. Here are the original liner notes...
For tracklisting album see session #94.

"Inimitable has been a word most often used to describe many people, but it has never been more appropiately used in describing the vocal stylings of Fats Domino. Webster's dictionary defines ïnimitable" as meaning 'beyond imitation'. Although many have tried, none have succeeded in capturing the feeling and interpretation that only Fats can bring out. His followers are numbered in the millions as evidenced by his eighteen individual gold records, each of which is symbolic of having sold a million or more copies..."

...The bounds of his talent do not stop at his singing, but overflow into the talent of a succesful songwriter and top notch entertainer. He is continually in demand for appearances in Las Vegas, Hollywood, Chicago, New York, Europe and for that matter wherever phonograph records are played. His popularity is not confined to an area or country...it is universal..."

"... It is most appropriate that this album is called "Southland U.S.A." because this is were FATS DOMINO is from. It was here, in NEW ORLEANS, that his now famous vocal styling found it's birth and it was here in the south that the public was first exposed to FATS DOMINO on records and in person. For those that know him intimatelyi t is fitting that some of the songs that FATS DOMINO sings in this album are about his beloved NEW ORLEANS. They bring out the true feeling of the man and his love for his birthplace..".

"... WALKING TO NEW ORLEANS, WAY DOWN YONDER IN NEW ORLEANS and I GOT THE BLUES FOR NEW ORLEANS tell the real story of FATS DOMINO and his constant desire to return there as quickly as possible from his personal appearance tours. As we all know, MARDI GRAS IN NEW ORLEANS" describes a time of celebration in the Crescent City but to FATS DOMINO every day is Mardi Gras time when he is in New Orleans. .."

".... As we listen to the selection in this album, Fats continues his musical travels in the south bytaking us DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS and ALABAMY BOUND. Although St'Louis borders in the twilight zone of north and south, no album would be complete without the mournful lament of ST. LOUIS BLUES as only FATS DOMINO can sing it and like the hand in the glove, the companion song BASIN STREET BLUES was also a must..."

"...There are other new selections in this album, all done in the ever popular FATS DOMINO style that will take their place among his all time great renditions, inimitable-yes, that's the word that best fits FATS DOMINO. The songs contained in this album may be done many times, by many others, but if you're a FATS DOMINO fan than you'll want this album and if you haven't been a FATS DOMINO fan than this album should make you one..."
