Audrey here back with another tiny house adventure, and since Sam was away visiting his parents, this time I was joined by Arielle for a sisters getaway! As you know, this summer we’ve been making an effort to travel locally and get to know our own backyard, and for this week’s getaway, we rented a tiny cabin in the woods in Glen Huron (this one: ➡️🏡 🏡⬅️) about 1 hour and 40 minutes north of Toronto. This tiny home had a living area, dining area, kitchen, bathroom with compost toilet and shower, a loft bedroom, and a spacious patio for barbecuing and outdoor dining. It was very cosy and comfortable and it was a fun little city getaway. But even more exciting than the tiny cabin stay is that fact that Arielle and I finally got to meet our nephew! Be forewarned, there might be tears because he really is the most beautiful baby and I’ve never seen anything so tiny and perfect. Now let’s roll the footage!

🏡 Tiny House Getaway in Glen Huron + Meeting Our Newborn Nephew! | Ontario Road Trip Vlog 🚗🌲

Sister Adventure Begins: Road Trip to Glen Huron 🚙☕

Hi guys, Audrey here! While Sam was away visiting family, I teamed up with my sister Ariel for a cozy tiny house adventure just north of Toronto. The journey started with classic road trip moments—getting lost among green farmland, missing Tim Hortons stops (thanks to some accidental napping!), and dodging a looming summer storm. But soon, we arrived at our charming cabin in the woods, ready for a night of relaxation and sister time.

Tour of the Tiny House: Cozy Corners & Clever Spaces 🏠✨

Step inside our adorable cabin! The entrance leads to a welcoming living area decked out with Canadian plaid and cute polar bear decor—perfect for reading, snacking, or chilling. The kitchen is compact but functional, stocked with essentials from mugs and plates to a mini fridge, toaster oven, and barbecue. Our “dining room” doubles as a workspace with forest views, and for once, we lucked out with a bathroom that has both a composting toilet AND a shower—a tiny house first! There's even a TV with a massive movie selection, ideal for rainy nights.

Lofted Bedroom & Outdoor Deck: Mosquito Battles & Forest Views 🌲🛏️

Climb up to the loft bedroom and you’ll find twinkling star lights, piles of pillows, and panoramic views of a nearby Christmas tree farm. While unpacking, Ariel braved a full-on mosquito attack, reminding us why bug spray is essential in the Ontario summer! Outside, the cabin features a spacious deck for al fresco dining, colorful birdhouses, Christmas lights, and a barbecue. The cabin sits right at the trailhead for local hikes, and there are two toilets (including an outhouse for emergencies).

Taco Night, Mosquito Invasions & Movie Marathons 🌮🦟🍿

Dinner was easy and delicious—pre-cooked chicken tacos (with homemade guac and salsa) heated in the toaster oven, followed by sweet cherries for dessert. We attempted a post-dinner hike, but the relentless mosquitoes sent us running back indoors within minutes! Instead, we embraced a classic sister sleepover with back-to-back movies: “Night at the Museum” and “Alice in Wonderland”—though neither of us managed to stay awake for both.

Rainy Mornings, Tim Hortons Runs & Tiny House Reflections 🌧️☕

A torrential early morning downpour woke us, but otherwise, the loft was surprisingly comfortable (even if the twinkle lights were a little too bright). After packing up, we set off for Ariel’s house in Innisfil, fueling up with Tim Hortons coffee and breakfast biscuits—a must-have for any Canadian road trip! We agree this tiny house would be best enjoyed in autumn, when mosquitoes aren’t an issue and the trails can truly be appreciated.

Meeting Baby Sebastian: Family Time & First Snuggles 👶💞

The most heartwarming part of our adventure was meeting our brand-new nephew, Sebastian Daniel! We spent the morning at my sister Ashley’s, swooning over tiny fingers, peach-fuzz hair, and baby giggles. Diaper changes, feeding time, and cuddles made for a truly special day. Family moments like these are the best part of traveling close to home.
