STORYLINE:
Thousands of people on Wednesday joined the funeral parade in Beirut for three Hezbollah members and a boy scout who were killed in the pager explosions the previous day.
Security was tight, with Lebanese troops deployed along some intersections, while Hezbollah operatives dressed in black were positioned around a cemetery where the dead are buried.
At least one drone, believed to be Israeli, could be seen flying over the gathering of mourners.
Hashem Safieddine, head of Hezbollah’s executive council, spoke during the procession, saying that the militant group would respond to Tuesday's blasts with its own "punishment and retribution".
Hundreds of handheld pagers exploded almost simultaneously across Lebanon and in parts of Syria on Tuesday, killing at least 12 people, government and Hezbollah officials said.
Officials pointed the finger at Israel in what appeared to be a sophisticated remote attack, but the Israeli military has declined to comment.
As the funeral procession continued, a number of electronic devices exploded in multiple regions of the country, killing at least nine people and wounding 300.
Associated Press journalists reported multiple explosions at the site of the Beirut procession.
