The Nigeria Police Force has withdrawn its invitation to Emir Aminu Sanusi II regarding the March 30th incident during the Sallah celebration in Kano. Originally asked to provide his account, the Police decided to have the Force Intelligence Department obtain his statement in Kano on the Inspector-General’s directive after consulting stakeholders.
The incident followed an agreement by Kano Emirs to suspend the Durbar Festival to avoid violence. Emir Sanusi’s actions of riding a horse after Eid prayers reportedly triggered a clash, tragically leading to one death and several injuries.
