But finally, sorted ☑️
And just in time to plant next years batch!
I’m usually a BIG proponent of planting your home saved garlic seed, where you just hold back some of the largest bulbs and plant the cloves from that. But this year I grew my garlic in a bed that had white rot 😩 so I’ve had to buy fresh seed garlic this season in order not to spread it around.
It also meant that I lost about 50% of my garlic harvest… sad face 😢 I’ll avoid that bed for all my alliums (onion family) from now on.
Another tip is if you had visits from the allium leaf miner, you should also avoid that bed next year. But after that you should be ok. The pupae of the larvae can overwinter in the soil, but not for years.
Unlike white rot spores… can lay dormant for several seasons until they can smell onion 🧅
things.
Anyway, feel free to use this audio for something! I made it myself and thought it could apply to lots of things.
Look out for the garlic planting video too 👍 drop me a garlic 🧄 in the comments if you’re excited!
