Depeche Mode were early adopters & pioneers of sampling. Their musiccombined great songwriting with the innovation of sampling which propelled them into the mainstream, yet still remaining credible in 'The Underground Scene'. The limitations of the sampling technology of the time, combined with the bands forward thinking approach is what gave Depeche Mode its unmistakably unique signature sound. These days, modern music production technology has now come so far that we have somehow lost a lot the character and soul of those early sampling pioneers.
