Hayoun Kwon is an award-winning visual artist and documentary director. Her work revolves mostly around the notions of memory and the frontiers between reality and fiction. Fascinated by the virtual reality, a powerful medium capable of questioning the truth, she has co-founded Innerspace VR with Balthazar Auxietre in 2014 and directed/produced several experiences since.
Balthazar has a strong cinematic background and a new media arts degree. In order to experiment with immersive storytelling, Balthazar starts to use virtual-reality headsets in the “pre-Oculus” days of VR, in 2011. Fascinated by the potential of the medium, two projects arise from his explorations: "The Fifth Sleep" and "The Cave" which are at the intersection of film, installation art and video games and are curated for the launch of the Samsung Gear Headset. In 2014, he creates ‘Innerspace’ with fellow artist Hayoun Kwon, a pioneering studio dedicated to producing narrative-driven content exclusively for VR. Balthazar is now recognized as one of the world’s finest artist in the field of VR. His latest works the “Firebird” series and “A Fisherman’s Tale” have received global praise and awards for both innovation and artistic direction. Today, as the Creative Director of Innerspace, he keeps on driving his exploration of the medium with ambitious projects and new collaborators.
