Song 2 was Blur’s first major U.S. hit. Released in 1997, it broke through with its loud, grungy sound and that unmistakable “Woo-hoo!” chorus. It was a sharp departure from their Britpop style, landing perfectly with American alt-rock audiences. While Blur had been huge in the UK for years, the U.S. market hadn’t really embraced them until Song 2 came crashing in — short, explosive, and impossible to ignore. It didn’t top the charts, but it became a radio and MTV staple, cementing their one-song fame in the States. A two-minute blast that made a transatlantic dent.
