We have proposed a pointing facilitation system for people with hand impairment like RSI, Arthritis and so on. The system removes jitter in pointing movement using a polynomial filter and use time gradient model to predict and expand prospective pointing target based on recent cursor movement. Our user study confirmed, the system can significantly reduce pointing time as well as cognitive load of users. As part of the study w also compared different combinations of smoothing algorithms and target prediction models and identified a set of features to implement an effective target expansion algorithm. We implemented the system as a Javascript library o that it can easily be integrated to web based systems. Our future research is exploring use of the system for new modalities of interaction including eye gaze, head and hand movement tracking systems.
