As thou doth continue thine studies, thou doth begin to notice The Knights of the Scholastum.They are the mist of the sea. They are the petals of a flower. There for a moment, and then gone. A part of life itself. They enter and leave the castle, their smiles are warm but their soul is cold. They have seen and do much, and thou doth appreciate them for it.
Such, some day, will be your path Squire.
But one doth watch thee.
A large knight who does clank and rattle with each lumbering footfall - he appears more a scrap of metal then a man. His helmet makes him appear sightless though you feel the piercing gaze therein. He averts his gaze when you look, but thou doth feel his eyes upon thee.
Thou art curious. Does he dislike you?
Day after day thou hath seen him and his gaze has followed thee.
Finally thou doth approach.
"I apologize," he says, stammering and shifting, metal grinding, eyes averting. "I didst not mean to stare."
"I..."
"I knew a friend who wore a cloak like thine."
And thou doth tenderly touch the worn clothe of thine cloak given to thee what feels like years ago . It makes you sad, but swells your heart to know that your Knight had friends.
Thou doth reach up and hug the Scrap Metal Knight, and when he hugs you back, he is surely thinking of hugging a friend one last time.
