
Operation Market Garden aimed to end WWII by Christmas, with Allied paratroopers and British tanks capturing key bridges in the Netherlands. Despite heroic efforts like the dangerous Waal River crossing, logistical delays and fierce German resistance led to the operation's ultimate failure, though its legacy of sacrifice endures today.
