Water is formed by the chemical combination of hydrogen and oxygen. In a water molecule, 2 atoms of hydrogen and 1 atom of oxygen are chemically combined. There is energy in hydrogen. When it reacts with oxygen and ignites, that energy starts coming out. The water formed in this process comes in the form of gas. That energy is released after cooling.
