This video is for anyone who collects CDs or vinyl by a specific artist and still gets tempted by items you already have or you find a version that is better than the one you already have.
I guess this is about being a completist. There is no reason for me to own Purple Passages by Deep Purple on vinyl. Everything on it exists elsewhere. In fact, in the UK this was an expensive import even when it appeared back in 1972.
What does make this album sought after is the ring wear, well mainly because it is very hard to even find a photo of a copy without it!
In fact, for years I thought it was part of the actual sleeve design.

I have had a very loved copy on the dark green Warners label for a while and this has serious ring wear on it. A few weeks ago while casually scrolling through eBay I stumbled across another copy, this time on the palm tree Warner Brothers Lable but this one literally had NO ring wear at all.
It had been bought from Downtown Records in Romford back in the 1970s and simply put away and never touched. I managed to get it for a very good price and I am thrilled!

As I stated earlier this is nothing rare on this album, it has the single Emmeretta on it which was rare back in 1972 but all these tracks are easy to stream and find on CD. However, if you are a collector is it moments like this that make us different!
