In international law, a "condominium" refers to a piece of territory that is jointly owned and administered by two or more sovereign states. Unlike a condominium in real estate, where individuals own units within a larger property, an international condominium is a form of shared sovereignty. The countries involved share equal rights and responsibilities over the territory, and decisions regarding its governance are typically made collectively.

Historically, international condominiums have been rare, but they have existed in various forms. One example is the condominium of the Sudan, which was jointly administered by the United Kingdom and Egypt from 1899 until Sudan's independence in 1956. Another example is the New Hebrides, now known as Vanuatu, which was jointly administered by France and the United Kingdom until its independence in 1980.

These arrangements often arise from historical treaties or agreements, and the specific terms of governance and sovereignty can vary widely depending on the nature of the condominium.
