"Scarecrowds" is a gothic dark fantasy and surrealist mixed-media post-art series that began in Halloween Season, 2024. In gothic culture, crows are powerful and multifaceted symbols, often representing darkness, mystery, and a connection to death or the supernatural. Scarecrowds don’t ward off crows like ordinary scarecrows; instead, they repel the regulatory aspects within the conceptual box labeled "Humans," particularly those crowds promoting the banal insistence on "human" ways of life and thought, rejecting the actual non-human dimension within humanity. The series celebrates the magic of animatronic "scarecrowds" existing between the human and non-human realms, infused with a dose of irony, satire, dark humor, and playfulness.
