A true battle of speed vs burst, this match featured my cycle-pressure Hog Rider deck against a dangerous Balloon + Rage combo backed by Lumberjack and Poison. Their game plan was clear: control the skies with Balloon + Tesla, then burst through with Rage-fueled pushes. But with tight defence and perfectly timed counter-pushes, I turned their game plan against them.They opened with slow plays, dropping Ice Wizard in the back, then setting up Tesla to stall my Hog. But I applied constant chip pressure:
Ice Spirit + Hog pushed early and forced Tesla early cycles
Dart Goblin sniped their backline from a safe distance
Log and Spear Goblins handled their Lumberjack and Balloon drops cleanly
The P.E.K.K.A was key — absorbing hits from the Lumberjack and giving me breathing room to set up counter-pushes. As soon as Poison was used defensively, I punished the opposite lane with Hog + Ice Spirit, slipping past their Tesla when it was out of cycle.
The clutch moment came late in the game:
They tried a Rage + Balloon push, but Spear Goblins + Dart Goblin shredded it, and Log cleared the support.
I immediately countered with Hog Rider, and with Tesla down, it went straight to the tower for the final hit.
This was a match about cycle timing, outlasting splash control, and punishing every overcommit with precise Hog pressure. If you love anti-Balloon gameplay, this one’s for you.
