Labor’s $10 million pledge to LGBTQI training is as ‘ideological as it is irresponsible’

Women's Forum Australia's Stephanie Bastiaan says the Labor government’s pledge to invest $10 million into LGBTQI training is as “ideological as it is irresponsible”.

“I mean this government is as ideological as it is irresponsible – part of this funding is going towards ensuring that medical professionals are meeting best practice, there’s voluntary accreditation program, we don’t even know what best practice is,” Ms Bastiaan said.

“These practices that are going on are not best practice.

“The fact they’re now spending $10 million to invest in best practice shows that they do not care about the LGBTQI community at all, and are not willing to look at the facts to ensure that they are actually receiving the best medical care.”
