In a vacuum, both an elephant and a feather drop at the same rate because there is no air resistance to slow them down. This phenomenon occurs because, in the absence of air (or any other medium), the only force acting on them is gravity. Gravity accelerates both of them at the same rate, regardless of their mass, when no other forces (like air resistance) are present.
This acceleration due to gravity on Earth is approximately 9.8 m/s^2. So in a vacuum, both the feather and the elephant experience this same gravitational acceleration and will fall at the same speed, hitting the ground simultaneously if dropped from the same height.
