Here is a free "mastering" plug-in that I often use on my tracks. I use the word "mastering" very lightly since I am not a mastering engineer. But to get my tracks a bit louder on the Master channel, I usually use a combination of effects to help the sound stick together as well as give it a bit of a punch. The Teen Power Warm Master preset is for Ableton 9 users only, but the concept can be copied on any DAW. Here is a link for the preset:
