If asked to name at least three nerd rappers, most rap fans might come up with the names of bonafide stars including Logic, Childish Gambino, and Lil Dicky, with some honorable mentions for Lupe Fiasco and Tyler, The Creator among others. But for these nerdy hip-hop artists to be the stars they are today, rappers of generations past had to slowly but surely introduce the idea that rappers could be more than gangsters or sociopolitical commentators. Simply put, nerdiness in rap music has been around for about as long as the genre itself and today’s rappers have taken it to a place where being a nerd is no longer an obstacle to an aspiring rapper. #HipHopMadness #NerdRap #HipHop
