This is a parody of the Canadian folk song "Barrett's Privateers" by Stan Rogers. I thought how easy it would be to change up the lyrics and make it fit Fjord's backstory, so that's what I did.

Lyrics:

Oh, the year was 835
(How I wish I was in Alfield now!)
We’d set a course through the open sea
On the finest vessel I've ever seen

Gods damn them all!
I was told we'd cruise the seas for Exandrian gold
We'd fire no guns - shed no tears
I'm a broken man on Damali’s pier
The last of Vandran’s Privateers
(Repeat after every verse)

Oh, Vandran came and cried the town
(How I wish I was in Alfield now!)
For twenty brave men all sailors who
Would make for him the Tide’s Breath crew

The Tide’s Breath sloop was a wondrous sight,
(How I wish I was in Alfield now!)
No list to the port or starboard, she
Was finer than any the Lucidian’s seen

On a bright sunny day we put to sea,
(How I wish I was in Alfield now!)
We were 5 whole days to the Diver’s Grave
Pumping like madmen all the way

On that fateful day we sailed again
(How I wish I was in Alfield now!)
When I heard a sound from below the deck
So I dropped my work and went down to check

The man called Sabian stood below
(How I wish I was in Alfield now!)
He held a match to a fuse which led
To a pile of old black powder kegs

I tried to run and abandon ship
(How I wish I was in Alfield now!)
But a flash of red and I’m breathing brine
Think this is it for this life of mine

I awake on the sand, no ship in sight
(How I wish I was in Alfield now!)
With a sword in hand, try not to cry
For my sunken brothers’ and sisters’ lives

So here I lay in my 33rd year
(How I wish I was in Alfield now!)
It's been some days since we sailed away
And I just made port town yesterday
