Why does this swap work well:

I think the musicality match is very good, with moments of calm vs chaos, much like the song.
Kendall and Kalanis characters are seen as very controlled and similar, almost like they are singling out Brynn, she wants to be like them and cant hide it but eventually gets turned down to many times and gives up graciously. (this is my interpretation anyway.). this is very similar to the song as it says they "can't love you in the dark" my interpretation of this song is that when you want something so bad you can't hide it, you can only really hide your feelings in the dark, hence the "i cant" part. The dance is also called blackbirds which could link black to dark.
Overall I think this swap fits very well.
