genre: experimental psychedelic rock, neo-psychedelia, indie rock, noise rock, post-rock, krautrock
year: 2000
label: God's Pop Records (CJGP-4044)
an obscure album on the legendary Japanese indie label God's Pop that follows in the same vein as Boredoms, another iconic avant-psych band from the time. however, the production and personality this record has is much more in the style of indie pop, leading to a much cuter and warmer, bittersweet-esque sound. the ethereal electronic and guitar manipulation adds some much-needed washed noisiness into the background of the sublime arrangements and composition on each of these tracks. extremely ambitious and experimental stuff. if you like Yamatsuka Eye projects, Natsumen, BOaT, Rovo, OOIOO, and other sorts of psych outfits from the Japanese indie scene, you are going to find something enjoyable in 400%'s self-titled. "400% are masashi yamazaki, daisuke natsume and female voice saori ito-kondoh on mind control phase 2001"
this is where i'd tell you to support the artists but you literally can't. just enjoy the music, that's as much as we can do :')
