Suggested part substitutions for some of the expensive parts used in this model: (Noting that unfortunately for most of the rare/expensive parts used you are going to have to buy the parts as-specified by BrickVault as there are no viable alternatives due to their uniqueness.)
- The laser cannon 8x 2L joiners (#75535) in Dark Blueish Grey - can be replaced with: 8x 2L axle connectors (#6538c) again in Dark Blueish Grey + required 2L axles (#32062) versus pins to join them.
- The 3x 2L joiners (#75535) in Black used for the stand - can be replaced with 3x 2L joiners with a slot (#62462) in Black .
- The missile 2x 2L joiners (#75535) in White - can be replaced with 2L joiners with a slot (#62462) in White. (note I recommend omitting the missiles all-together and not buying the parts needed to make them at all - I think the Swordfish looks better without the missiles).
The Spike minifigure can be made up of:
This alternate minifigure (body + head used):
+ the hair piece from this minifigure: (I found it cheaper to buy this whole minfig for the hair versus just the hair piece.)
