These are the European colonies in Africa before the First World War!
Video Transcript:
These are all the European colonies in Africa before the First World War. France had the biggest empire in Africa, mostly in the western part of the continent including all of these today’s countries. Right behind France is the United Kingdom, which at that time controlled all of this land in Africa. Italy successfully colonized today’s Libya, Eritrea, and Somalia without Somaliland. Belgium was in the game as well, controlling today's Democratic Republic of Congo. Portugal influenced Mozambique, Angola, Sao Tome and Principe, and Guinea Bissau. Germany colonized Namibia, Rwanda, Burundi, Cameroon with parts of Nigeria, Togo, and Tanzania. And Spain was left only with Equatorial Guinea and Western Sahara. Considering Liberia as an Artificial country this makes Ethiopia the only African country that has never been colonized.
