I will keep firing out the progressive house, Melodic and vocal trance mixes along with a variety of deep house, electro house, euro club and my favourite progressive vocal trance tracks....
Growing up in Northern Ireland, Music is the number 1 thing that has brought lasting peace to our country. Since the 70s Protestants and Catholics had been killing each other. In school we grew up learning this hatred. I didnt follow the crowd and do what they did, going out looking for kids from the opposite community to fight and hurt them. From a young kid i always enjoyed music and weird noises that electronic type music would make. I played my 1st synthizer in Toronto when i went on vacation, but it was when i was 11 that i first heard Streetsounds Electro. These blew me away and i just had to learn what this music was all about.
My cousin was older and he had all the albums so i got copies of these. The Breakers in school found out i had these and they wanted copies too so i started messing about with tape cutting all my fav tracks out and making them into my own shitty cut mixes but they were decent and i was lucky as the Breakers were a different bunch. Break Music brought Protestants and Catholics together in a secret Underground Break community and the Breakers in my school were some of the fittest and best fighters too so the bullying i got seemed to stop quite quick.
In my later school years I met a guy Gaz Campbell, he and i were both into music. He was more commercial Erasure, Depeche Mode etc we would then start doing school discos. We then in 1988 were offered a night in a local club when then became 2, then 3. After doing club discos for a couple of years we knew we had to introduce our town to the Rave scene. Gaz was into his Deep bass tracks, I was more into Italiano Euro House on the ZYX label so we said lets do it.
We asked a local Record shop owner and DJ Mark One to help us as we didn't have enough music and with our club having the only Lazer system in Northern Ireland we managed to jam pack 600 people in every Friday Night.
Man the 1980s in the clubs scene was crazy. I remember on an Thursday night members from the Terrorist organisations IRA and UDA would only drink in their own clubs and these guys were murdering each other and innocent people for no reason but on the Friday night and they were taking Extasy they were on the Dance Floor jumping to Extrasyn RFTR and Injected with a Poison hugging and kissing each other.
I do think it was the introduction of Dance Music and Raves that brought about the Peace in northern Ireland.
I am still best buddies with Gaz Campbell and Gerry Nugent (awesome synth player and singer with the beers in)
So a big shout out to all the Old School Party People from Northern Ireland.
Lets keep it going with the House, Deep House, Progressive House, Trance, Deep Trance, Vocal Trance , Progressive Trance , Electro and my fav Street sounds Hip Hop Electro
