Edward III was one of England’s great medieval warrior Kings. But when he wasn’t sacking France, he was busy making babies with his Queen, Philippa of Hainault. They had 13 children, 8 sons and 5 daughters. They grew into legendary warriors, and key political players. And they sprouted the branches of the family that would later go head to head in the wars of the roses. Edward III was such a prolific father that he is believed to be an ancestor to 99.53% of all people of British decent alive today. About 200 million people worldwide, including Meghan Markle, Hilary Duff, Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal, Michael Douglas, Ellen DeGeneres, Laura Dern, Dakota & Elle Fanning, Johnny Depp and yours truly! So if you have any British heritage, than it is extremely likely that at least one of these royal siblings is on your family tree. Let’s meet the children of King Edward III of England.
