Prologue - A Sinking Thought
Subtle sparked out of nothingness. At the time of its conception, we were going through stressful times. Those sinking thoughts somehow created something beautiful and true. We are delighted to share it with you.
Part I - Nowhere to Veil
The title track, Subtle, is about feeling small in a colossal world. Often we tend to forget the insignificance of our existence in this enormous universe. However, in a sense it is comforting to remember how unimportant we are.
Part II - The Voice Keeps Calling
The Call is about being lost in the night and being guided by a foreboding voice. Aren’t we all a little lost and simply following the path, hoping for a happily ever after?
Part III - Awake, In a Sleeping World
The song In a Sleeping World is a tale of abandonment. Abandonment of one’s own insecurities, scared shitless. Abandonment of the shackles that we decide to put on our own ankles in order to finally walk free. It is easy to forget that we often create our own prisons.
Part IV / Epilogue - No Escape.
The final track, Far Too Gone, is the hardest song for us to digest on this album. It took us the longest to write and is the most painful to play. Serendipitously, the song is about feeling far too gone to save, no escape in sight, endless torment. We will likely never perform it live again.
Subtle out now on Phage Tapes.
Love,
HALLOWS
