DJ FUNKSCRIBE brings over two decades of global crate digging and a deep obsession for vinyl to his Humano Sound debut spinning funk, soul, boogie, disco, and classic hip-hop samples, all on 45s. With records pulled from India, Cuba, Southeast Asia, South America, and his hometown of Seattle, the set even features select cuts from his own label, We Coast Records, a local imprint pressing original funk and soul for nearly 15 years.
Raised in a home with a jukebox in the living room and a father working part-time at Seattle’s legendary Bop Street Records, Anthony (aka DJ FUNKSCRIBE) was surrounded by vinyl from day one. That early spark turned into a life in music. He’s a recording artist, keyboard player, and analog synth head, with multiple albums and beat tapes to his name. His projects feature members of Parliament Funkadelic, including collaborations with the late great Garry “Starchild” Shider, as well as Bernie Worrell and Michael “Kidd Funkadelic” Hampton.
We hope you enjoy this sweet session from DJ FUNKSCRIBE—a living archive of global groove.
