WoOOw, it’s been a bit of a while 😅. But I’m back with another animatic! I apologise if the character’s personalities seem a bit less accurate to the actual character in the Hermitcraft episodes, that’s probably because I either wanted to make them a bit more out of it due to shock/panic or I didn’t know enough about the character because I’m a very new hermitcraft fan, so I don’t know much. Also, I’ve been getting most of the lore from the fandom/fans, not the actual episodes, because I’m currently already trying to keep up with season 10. I’ve got some tidbits down, but I’m still learning about the characters and the dynamic they fit into in hermitcraft, so apologies.

I love the concept of hermits finding out that Grian is a watcher, and having that bit of lore be revealed to them. It’s a pretty common storyline in fanfictions (yes, I read fanfiction, shuddup) and I thought I’d explore it in my own way. Of course, I don’t have the patience to write a 30k word plot going into depth on Grian’s watcher lore, but here’s a little animatic instead (that I spent WAY too long on).

- Hermitcraft is a Minecraft server currently administered by Xisumavoid. Its members, called Hermits, are popular Minecraft players who have been recognized by other Hermits and have been invited to join.

- In 2017, a Minecraft Survival MultiPlayer (SMP) series called Evolution SMP (EVO) began, featuring 11 members known as the Evolutionists. The server started on the earliest version of Minecraft (Beta 1.2_02) and gradually progressed to newer versions, with mysterious beings called the Watchers overseeing the updates. The Watchers represented the viewers, guiding the Evolutionists through updates, building structures with clues, and occasionally leaving gifts or punishments. Although some fans connect the Watcher lore to other series like the Life series or Hermitcraft, Grian confirmed that Evolution SMP is not canon to Hermitcraft.

- The Watchers are a group of powerful unseen forces who seem to run and orchestrate the series behind the scenes. They have the power to move through different versions of the game, and they are the ones who created the portal that lead the players to each new version of Minecraft.

- The main character of my animatic, Grian, (guy in red, with parrot wings) is known for being an expert builder and his funny pranks, and being a “pesky bird”. He was chosen to be a Watcher back in Evo, and escaped to Hermitcraft to be free of the Watcher’s evil ways. The watchers have been hunting him down since then. No hermit knows of his Watcher past (except maybe Mumbo. I think he found out because of a really stupid reason, that’d be funny).
