Step-by-Step: Facelift Surgical Procedure
Anesthesia Administration:
General anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation is given to ensure a pain-free experience.
Incision Placement:
The surgeon creates incisions usually starting at the hairline near the temples, continuing around the ear, and ending in the lower scalp. In mini facelifts, the incisions are shorter.
Tissue Repositioning & Lifting:
The underlying tissues and muscles are lifted and tightened (SMAS layer), and fat may be sculpted or redistributed to enhance facial harmony.
Skin Redraping & Excess Removal:
The skin is redraped smoothly over the newly repositioned contours, and any excess skin is trimmed off to eliminate wrinkles and sagging.
Incision Closure:
The incisions are carefully closed with sutures or skin adhesives. These are placed in areas that allow scars to be hidden within the hairline or natural facial creases.
