
As part of a project that has been in the works since the 1980s, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is adding a new lock at the Soo Locks in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Construction supervisor Kristina Schnettler gives an update on the project, which is expected to be done in 2030. But inflation, increased labor costs and supply chain issues have ballooned the estimated cost of the major reconstruction project:
