In 2020, solar PV production reportedly increased by 23% compared to 2019, highlighting the growing global popularity of solar power. However, issues related to power quality and harmonics in integrated systems remain critical when transferring power to the grid. To improve PV system performance, various inverter configurations have been proposed in the literature. Among these, multilevel converters have proven to be the most effective option for minimizing harmonics and reducing noise interference, thereby addressing key power quality challenges.

Presenter
Dr. Munira Batool, EIT Lecturer
Dr. Munira Batool received the Ph.D. degree from Curtin University, Australia, in May 2019. She has over 15 years of extensive experience of teaching and research in the university sector. She is currently an Assistant Professor with the University of Engineering and Technology Taxila. She is also a Postgraduate Research Supervisor with the Electrical Engineering Department, EIT Australia.
She has commendable teaching experiences in power system generation, power system transmission, power system distribution and utilization, power system protection, and electric power system analysis. Her research interests include distributed energy generation-based power systems, renewable energy sources integration and control, microgrids, and smart grids. Initially, this was applied to improve the performance of distributed energy generation systems using optimization methods. More recently, her research efforts have involved the optimal sizing and siting of renewable energy sources (like PV and wind) in distribution networks using novel power electronic converters and controllers. She is a subject matter expertise on modelling and simulating
renewable energy-based power system networks using software commonly used in the industry. The results of her research have been published in high ranked journals and conference papers.
