We've put around one year of work into renovating the property in Argentina, but what do we actually have to show for it? In today's video, I thought it would be nice to take a little trip down memory lane and look at all the different jobs that have been completed across the property so far. This includes landscaping, house renovations and some tasks on the hotel.

I dug up some of our old footage on the hard drives, and honestly, I'm pretty impressed with the progress that has been made! It's so easy to forget what this place looked like when we first started. I mean, most of the constructions were inaccessible!

So before we dive into this next big push with the renovations and completing the house, here's a one year recap.

🔨 Argentina Renovation Recap: One Year in the Sierras 🇦🇷
Before we kick off our brand-new renovation series, we’re taking you down Memory Lane to showcase 9½ months of progress on our Canadian-Argentine property. From wild bush to cozy chalet, here’s everything we’ve achieved—visual tour coming right up!

1. Welcome to the Sierras
“Good morning, welcome to Argentina, welcome to the Sierras!”

We split our time between Canada & Argentina, plus trusted local crews keep things moving when we’re away.

2. Hotel Landscaping: From Jungle to Terrace 🌳
Cleared blackberry briars and overgrown saplings with Rambo-style gusto.

Reopened the once-hidden hotel façade, paths and three terrace levels.

Flooded views now reachable from the upper staircase—goodbye tunnel of thorns!

Reused felled trees for fencing, rustic ceiling beams, log seating and firewood.

3. Hotel Upgrades: Railing & Gutters 🏨
Dad’s DIY masterpiece: sanded, treated & stained the wooden railing along the wing—good as new!

Cleared rusted gutters, rebuilt drainage channels and removed root-damaged trees behind the hotel.

4. Chalet Transformation: Inside-Out Overhaul 🏠
Box purge: hundreds of forgotten books & heirlooms hauled out for donation or storage.

Mouldy leaks → replaced, reshaped & insulated the entire roof for a brighter, drier interior.

Electrical rewiring & new plumbing throughout—out with the dangerous old wiring!

Septic rebirth: removed a collapsed tank, installed two new tanks & a proper leaching field.

Patio prep: levelled & poured concrete for an eventual flagstone terrace—bye-bye mudslides.

Shutters revitalized: sanded and sealed all wooden window shutters for long-lasting protection.

Deck doors: fitted sliding glass patio doors for future mountain-view deck access.

5. Flooring & Interiors: Foundations & Finish ✨
Subfloor rescue: shored up uneven joists, laid new underlay.

Porcelain “wood-look” tile chosen for durability and countryside chic (installation in progress).

Walls to be skim-coated and prepped for paint—next phase is pure cosmetic!

6. Gas Heating Prep: Underground Network 🔥
Dug trenches and laid high-pressure natural-gas mains to every building.

Built concrete platforms for the gas tanks—soon every room will sport efficient radiators.

Chalet finish line: floor-to-ceiling wrap-up, radiator installation, final painting.

Hotel phase II: character framing, interior fit-out and landscaping details.
