The basis of this folk rock backing track is the popular chord progression
C# minor, A major, E major, B major. But there is always a key change after 4 passes. The last chord of the sequence is interpreted as a dominant and then leads to the new key. Each key change shifts the chord progression up a minor third. After this has happened four times, you get back to the original key.
C#m - A - E - B. B is the dominant of the new key E major or E minor.
Em - C - G - D. D is the dominant of G major or G minor.
Gm - Eb - Bb - F. F is the dominant of Bb major or minor.
Bbm - Gb - Db - Ab. And with Ab or G# as the dominant you get back to C# minor, which is where it all started.
