In 1995, 15-year-old Nicole van den Hurk disappeared on her way to work in the Netherlands. Weeks later, she was found dead in the woods—but despite multiple leads, no arrests were made, and the case went cold.

Sixteen years later, her stepbrother Andy made a shocking move: he falsely confessed to the crime. His goal? To force police to reopen the case and test for DNA.

Andy’s confession helped break the case open, and new evidence pointed to Jos de G., a man with a criminal record. He was later convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 12 years—but not for murder.

Andy, who struggled with mental health and addiction, passed away in 2021 at age 46. After years of fighting for justice, his story ended in tragedy.

Did Nicole or her family ever truly get justice?
