Liner Notes: I dedicate this to my mom, because she has always been a huge Neil Diamond fan, and made sure all of her kids were, too. I think this song and "Play Me" are my two favorite Neil Diamond songs (I hope to record a video for "Play Me" sometime this year).
I have always enjoyed the imagery in the song. When I was young, I identified more with the schoolboy. Now, I'm the father (with whiskers) who is lucky enough to have two boys to embrace. ❤️

There was a bit of melancholy for me as I recorded this song, because it was the last thing I recorded in my old studio space, where I shared so many great musical memories with my boys and with my talented friends. But it seemed appropriate that the last song I recorded there was both a nostalgic song, and a song about nostalgia--for times and places that are cherished memories, but that will also never return. I'm in a new space now, and am looking forward to creating new memories with my boys and talented friends.

Thanks to Ken Benson for playing bass on this. Ken is taking a teacher position abroad this summer and will be gone for two years, so I am glad we had this chance to work together on this before he left. We filmed him in my new studio space.

I played the stomp pedal (left foot) and tambourine (right foot) throughout this performance. I overdubbed a second guitar (left speaker) that was played with no capo in A, providing some nice contrast to the part you see me playing.

You hear my Roland GR-55 guitar synth playing along with both guitar tracks, and panned accordingly. The synths all happened in real time (along with both guitar performances).

I overdubbed the claves (in the right speaker). I added a similar pre-delayed reverb as can be heard on the claves in the original.

I play Ovation Guitars. My stomp pedal is a Wild Dog Stomp Bunyip, made in Australia.
