Two Venezuelan state airliners landed on Monday carrying nearly 190 deported migrants from the U.S., marking a significant repatriation effort. The event was broadcast live on President Nicolás Maduro’s weekly program.This comes shortly after Trump’s special envoy, Richard Grenell, met with Maduro in Caracas to discuss the repatriation of Venezuelan migrants who had entered the U.S. irregularly. Grenell also secured the release of six detained Americans during his visit.
The meeting happened less than a month after Maduro began his third term, which the U.S. and other Western nations refuse to recognize, citing credible opposition claims that Edmundo Gonzalez won the 2024 Venezuelan election.
