Ambient improvised jam. Getting into the OT. Baby steps at the moment, they the way it can capture, loop and mangle audio on the fly during an improvised set (which is how I like to jam) is proving very inspiring. Certainly takes me in different directions to other gear. Given I have previously not been sure on samplers I’m not sure how I’ve ended up with a desk full of them but these are all fast, fun, intuitive and great sounding instruments.
The Chompi is limited in many ways and yet I have really clicked with its simple and playful interface - I love it for creating dreamlike, ambient soundscapes and textures. The EP133 KOII is just a really fun portable sampler/groovebox/drum machine. It feels a little bit like the stripped down MPC mini everyone has been asking for. Meanwhile the SP404 mk2 continues to find a way into my setup.
Then there is the OT. It’s still a little intimidating due to its sheer depth, but at the same time, using it like I am here is quickly becoming second nature. It is not as immediately accessible as my trusty RC505 looper, but the depth and options you have for audio when it is captured are so much greater.
