Dear Wilbur Soot,

I looked up to you like a moth did a flame. I found you on a dark, stormy and rainy night, where I thought all hope was lost, and there was no good in this world. And then there you were. You warmed my heart, Wilbur, and became my fire.

But, like all moths, the fire that once kept me warm and alive, eventually killed me inside. And like all fires, your warmth extinguished, and I am alone again.

I miss the person I thought you were.

I’m afraid to fly away, but I feel as if I don’t have a choice now.

I wish you were better.

I wish you were better, for Shubble who didn’t deserve what you did, for your friends, who thought they knew you well enough, and for us, the moths that found each other under your warmth. And you know the worst part?

I don’t hate you.
