'Movement in still form' is available in a range of formats via the Sadler’s Wells website:
This photographic exhibition invites us into moments of the creative process where artists come together to make the dance we eventually see in performance. These are moments that audience members don’t usually get to see, and moments that artists are ready to experience again as we emerge from the pandemic.
Camilla Greenwell has been photographing dance for 10 years. Collaborating with artists from a range of different dance backgrounds, including flamenco, hip hop, contemporary and Indian classical dance, Camilla captures the process of a dance work coming to life. This exhibition provides personal insights from Camilla about her photography practice, as well as perspectives from some of her close collaborators, dance artists Botis Seva (Far From the Norm), Flora Wellesley Wesley (Nora) and Katye Coe.
‘Movement in still form’ features photography of artists and companies who are known and loved on Sadler’s Wells’ stages and beyond, including Katye Coe, dotdotdot dance, Hagit Yakira, Stefan Jovanović, Rambert, Far From the Norm, Candoco Dance Company, Nora, Pepa Ubera, Seeta Patel and James Cousins Company.
Capturing movement in still form is a fascinating contradiction. How can it help us to see dance differently?
