OCD is not a joke, quirk,
or benefit. Rather, OCD is characterized by recurring, intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors that the person feels compelled to perform (compulsions).
There are also different forms of OCD. OCD is not limited to a fear of germs or uncleanliness. It can involve a fear of harming others, a fear of making mistakes, or a fear of violating moral values.
These obsessions and compulsions can cause a great amount of distress. It can be so disruptive and debilitating that it can cause a person to feel isolated and misunderstood.
OCD interferes with a person's daily activities, relationships, and quality of life.
