
Tom Petersson played in several bands before forming Cheap Trick in 1974 with guitarist Rick Nielsen. He designed the 12-string bass guitar in collaboration with Hamer Guitars.
Departure and return: Tom Petersson left Cheap Trick in 1980 and released a solo EP in 1984. He rejoined the band in 1987 and remains with it to this day.
He has worked with artists such as Donovan, Willie Nelson, Mick Jagger, Harry Nilsson, and The Ramones.
Personal life: Tom Petersson is married to Alison Petersson, and has two children. In 2014, he founded Rock Your Speech, a project to support children with autism through music.
Has a large collection of bass guitars, including his own 12-string Gretsch Falcon model.
