On June 10, 1990, the pilot of BA 5390, Tim Lancaster, was blasted halfway out of his cockpit window and subjected to a two-pronged assault: the physical violence of that traumatic motion, and the extreme cold and lack of oxygen he endured at 17,000 feet.
