In May 1986, the music video for the song "Friends Will Be Friends" by Freddie Mercury and John Deacon was filmed.
The song was part of Queen's successful album "A KIND OF MAGIC", which sold 100,000 copies in its first week of release.
"Friends Will Be Friends" was performed live for the first time at the second Magic Tour show in Leiden, Netherlands.
Notably, it became the song that Queen began performing at the end of their shows between such legendary songs as "We Will Rock You" and "We are the champions".
As for the video itself, it was filmed by DoRo at JDC Studios, Wembley in May 1986. In it, the band perform the song in front of 850 members of their fan club. As a thank you, each fan received a t-shirt that read "I Am A Queen Friend".
At the end Freddie turns off his microphone, letting the crowd sing on their own, it's hard to imagine how amazing the atmosphere was at that moment....
I think all the participants of the shooting were enjoying it a lot. Re-watching the video, be sure to notice how pleased with himself "quiet" John Deacon is, it was really rare to see him like that.
"Sometimes a good friend is more valuable than a lover." - Freddie Mercury.
"... And so I raise my glass in a final farewell.
Sleep well, old friend, for me you will never die.
The best thing I can say after all this time is.
You were my true friend..." - Roger Taylor, "Old friends"
"... And so we'll decorate another table
And raise our glasses one more time
"... When you need love, they'll give you care and attention.
Friends will be friends,
When you're at the end of your life and all hope is lost.
Reach out, because friends will remain friends
Until the very end..." -John Deacon, "Friends Will Be Friends."
There's a face in the window,
And I never, never say goodbye ..." - Brian May, "No One But You"
