Stax's distribution deal with Atlantic ended in tears... In July and December 1973 Elvis had two recording sessions at Stax Studios (famous for its soul music).
This generated three albums, Most of Raised on Rock / For Ol’ Times Sake, Good Times and Promised Land.
Stax has a very interesting history. It was formed by Jim Stewart as Satellite Records in early 1957 and became Stax in 1961. (To avoid confusion with another label called Satellite.)

In 1959 Satellite made a distribution agreement with Atlantic Records. This was just a handshake agreement with Jerry Wexler. Sadly, it ended very badly for Stax...
