See @rokhamrrHomepage for Music, Docs, Album Features and Variety. B Side of single is "Silver Springs" 👉This description is about a dream that I had, and the first time that I heard this
song "Go Your Own Way" as it was debuted locally in late 1976. 👈
One of the most iconic albums of 70's, recorded at Sound City Studios on the Neve console.
This is a true story of the dream I had, when this song first hit the local airwaves. The album had came out earlier in the year, but we didn't have it yet, so we were listening to the singles already released by radio for that album. We had the self titled album with the addition of Nicks and Buckingham though.
The exact type radio in the post was at my bedside. My dad insisted to never turn it off, being a tube type radio and all. But he still left his TV's on until he passed in 2017 and "got his new bones" so to speak.
We had a decent enough console stereo in the 70's, just an AM - FM with a turntable. Good enough with plenty of low end and 3 speakers on each side. It sounded just as good as any jukebox I'd ever heard.
This was around the time I was becoming familiar with some of the album Rock like Frampton comes alive, Aerosmith- Get Your Wings, Made in Japan and others. (to be cont.)--11/30 - This is the moment that I learned of the passing of Christine McVie RIP
Dec. 1- I had just put this post out around 4 hours before learning of her passing and while writing this memoir.
Cont.I did a lot of partying, started going to concerts and listening to Rock music outside the top 100 format, from the age of 14 onwards. We, as a family, Mom, Dad and their circles started merging with mine, and everyone was cool as people would say in that era, and also drama free for the most part. All those times were magical, and a lot of living was compressed into a short time.
We did things as a family, Took in several concerts like Eric Clapton and Chuck Berry with opener Hoyt Axton at Charlotte Moter Speedway.
We also entered a homemade raft race, sponsored by the local FM station WROQ. No footage has been found and there wasn't any pictures taken, considering we were on a river partying and trying to keep everything dry.
A lot of people entered the race. I didn't witness any violence that day. We flipped over at the landing against another raft in shallow water, but was a bit scary for a minute being under a 3 to 400lb raft. My thoughts were at the time were "at least I won't have to go to school anymore" and a near death experience I had in 2014 I was thinking "I don't have the energy to hate anything" Last year in Feb. I was all but dead, and the only thing that I was confronted with was a DNR form from a suit and tie guy in the emergency room. I just told him that "I have some loose ends to tie up" and spent 8 days in the hospital with anemia and other assorted issues. Back to the story...
We bought a lot of "cutouts" sample albums from the same radio station, for just $1 a piece, about the same price a 45 went for in those days. All that I wanted at Christmas was Albums. This is just a glimpse into my life. To reiterate, that dream was otherworldly. Growing up from the age of 3 onwards, we listened to Rock and top 100 radio and watched Ed Sullivan and many others through the years.
Not that anyone cares about this, but it still needs to be put out there in my words.
The Dream is described in this post and in the description of the Great Singing of any Era or Style Playlist. This channel is semi autobiographical musically speaking and at the same time is for mixed company. All are welcome. It's the way that I grew up, and I made a lot of stops along the way meeting many different circles of great people, especially from the age of 10 until my early 30s. Music, partying and many great times were had. I wouldn't change very much of it for anything.
In my opinion music is something to be listened to for the most part, it's theater of the mind, like reading is.
In memoriam to Christine McVie, such a great talent, and what she contributed to Music, Fleetwood Mac and Chicken Shack is probably underrated, but needs to be recognized. Thanks for the memories. RIP
