Plastic Surgery 2 boasts a tracklisting including several (then) young producers (now household names) who gained attention fast back a decade ago - Danny Byrd, DJ Kalm, Calibre, High Contrast were all in their early twenties. The album also features more established artists - Total Science, John B and Carlito & Addiction.

Plastic Surgery 2 illustrates how much Drum & Bass had evolved in the 12 months previous to this release and helped shape the direction in which it was heading: this is drum&bass that owes as much to house, garage, disco, detroit techno, soul and funk as it does to hardcore, and breakbeat. The overall sound is fresh, not falling into the polarised catagories of "dark" or "jazzy" drum & bass. This was history in the making.
